Birkenstock+Repetto collab

Birkenstock and Repetto made the cutest ballet collab ever, they did drop a while ago but a picture came across my insta feed and I was dying to write about it. The shoes are styled to look like ballet pointe shoes mixed with the clog aesthetic that Birkenstocks are known for. I will admit the price did shock me just a tiny bit. Although, with Repetto being a top shoe designer I should've expected the price. Repetto make "luxury French leather shoes" which are in various ballet flat styles; they are all insanely beautiful shoes, genuine classic. However, I will admit the marking of the shoes was very minimal. I feel like they had so much opportunity to define the aesthetic of the shoes and they didn't. I made a little collage to show the aesthetic of the shoes because they are adorable. Some of the pics are Repettos own pictures that can be found on their website, while the others were sourced from pinterest.

I really appreciate dance as a whole. I took dance history in college and learned about bob fosse and was insanely hooked on the styles of dance. I used to dance as a child, when I was very young, and I didn't stick with it even though I wish I did. I've though about trying to get back into it now but, the learning curve of it all seems so steep. I mean I love to dance especially when I'm out or just home listening to music but to actually have skill and follow choreography is another level that I don't think I would follow. Especially, ballet, which is insanely hard. I find it interesting that ballet is always portrayed in such a delicate light. Mostly because it's such a brutal sport(Dance is 100% a sport) that requires so much of you. The strength that is needed and the dedication is overwhelming. I mean you basically have to train your body to stretch , be tall and balance on your feet while projecting this ease and softness. Anyways, I fell like there is so much more room to explore that especially as a brand that sells ballet flats for a living.
