Vision Boards, Do they work?

As I was scrolling through my pinterest today, I was looking back at my 2026 vision board. I usual make one every year and have been making one since 2023. I think they are a great way to set your goals and visualize what you want to get out of the year. But, as I was looking back at this years vision board I really started thinking about how much of my board I've actually accomplished. The past few years, my vision boards have almost always became reality, whether it was me manifesting better luck, good grades or small lifestyle changes. Now that I've graduated with a degree, it feels like my life really has no sense of direction. I mean theres the typical crossroads of grad school or getting a job, and with the job market right now...I don't even want to think about it.

There's so many ways my life can play out now and it's exciting but I also have no idea where to start. Which is funny because the second half of my vision board reflects this so well. I had small goals and have already accomplished them ,kinda, but now the rest is up to me. How are you supposed to manifest things when you don't know what you want?! How do you begin when you don't know where to start. I know I'm a very indecisive person but still. Some people just know what they want and It makes me a bit envious because I wish I could have such confidence in the direction of my life.

It's like Sylvia Plaths fig tree analogy and as romantic as it sounds most people forget to add the end of it; where she couldn't make a decision and came to realize that all her figs were rotted because of how much time had gone by. I have all these things I want to do and I'm scared that the longer I wait the less time I will have because they'll eventually rot into nothing. Its like a paralysis of my decision making and I'm not sure if it stems from me not wanting to make the wrong choice or if its the reality that I don't really know what I want.
